Berenberg maintains Lanxess on 'Hold' - target 25 euros
HAMBURG (dpa-AFX Analyst) - Private bank Berenberg maintained its rating for Lanxess at "Hold" with a price target of €25 following a conference on food ingredients and chemicals organized by the private bank. Given similarly subdued business in the third quarter as in the second quarter, many industrially oriented chemical companies have been cautious about issuing positive forecasts, Sebastian Bray wrote in an industry study released Monday. Due to the numerous "false hopes" for a recovery in the second half of 2025, the management teams' current expectations are likely realistic./edh/gl

Deutsche Bank Research maintains 'Buy' rating on Lanxess - target €27
FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX Analyst) - Deutsche Bank Research has maintained its "Buy" rating for Lanxess after the company's earnings release, with a price target of €27. A weak second quarter and the outlook cut are no surprises, wrote Tristan Lamotte in a study released Friday. However, the past three months were supported by several factors that will not be repeated in the third quarter. He noted positively that Lanxess should benefit more from the German infrastructure package than its competitors. The shares are attractively valued./tih/mis

HAMBURG (dpa-AFX Analyst) - Private bank Berenberg has lowered its price target for Lanxess from €31 to €30 following a roadshow and maintained its "Hold" rating. UBS maintains 'Neutral' rating on Lanxess - Target: EUR 27
ZURICH (dpa-AFX Analyst) - Swiss bank UBS has maintained its rating for Lanxess at "Neutral" with a price target of €27. 2025 and 2026 are likely to be years of low volume growth, according to Geoff Haire, who is not exactly optimistic about the chemicals sector in his assessment published Thursday. JPMorgan maintains Lanxess at 'Underweight' - Target 22 euros
NEW YORK (dpa-AFX Analyst) - US bank JPMorgan has maintained Lanxess's "Underweight" rating with a price target of €22. The share price increase since the beginning of the year does not reflect the short- to medium-term fundamental challenges facing the chemical company, Chetan Udeshi wrote in an assessment published Friday. He lowered his operating earnings (EBITDA) forecasts, which he said are below consensus estimates. He considers other sector stocks to be more valuable and less risky, such as his top recommendations Akzo Nobel, IMCD, and Syensqo. He also prefers Evonik to Lanxess due to its long-term potential thanks to the German economic stimulus package./rob/gl/edh

UBS lowers target for Lanxess to 27 euros - 'Neutral'
ZURICH (dpa-AFX Analyst) - Swiss bank UBS has lowered its price target for Lanxess from 30 to 27 euros and left the rating at "neutral." The first quarter provided little sign of a recovery in the overall economic environment, wrote analyst Geoff Haire in a report on European chemical stocks published Monday. Data and company commentary point to a decline in demand in the US in March, which is likely to have been partially offset by a recovery in China. German economic stimulus and the EU Clean Industrial Deal are longer-term positive aspects. For Lanxess, he lowered his estimates for operating profit in 2025 and earnings per share from 2025 to 2027./ck/he

JPMorgan lowers target for Lanxess to 22 euros - 'Underweight'
NEW YORK (dpa-AFX Analyst) - US bank JPMorgan lowered its price target for Lanxess from €23 to €22 and maintained its rating at "Underweight." Following an in-house industry conference, analyst Chetan Udeshi significantly reduced his estimates for most European chemical companies in a reassessment published Thursday. Many reported disappointing demand developments in the US and, as expected, weak European business, but relatively better trends in China. In addition to BASF, Udeshi also downgraded Arkema to "Underweight" and Victrex to "Neutral." He also recommends Lanxess, Brenntag, and DSM-Firmenich. In contrast, the expert prefers Akzo and Elementis for 2025 and Syensqo, Air Liquide, and Novonesis in the medium term./gl/edh

UBS maintains 'Neutral' rating on Lanxess - target 30 euros
ZURICH (dpa-AFX Analyst) - Swiss bank UBS has maintained its rating for Lanxess at "Neutral" with a price target of €30. Analyst Geoff Haire wrote in an industry report released Monday that 2025 will be more uncertain in the chemicals sector than 2024, which was characterized by a lack of inventory buildup by customers and the beginning of portfolio adjustments by companies. In 2025, the focus will once again be on the prospects for a recovery in demand, but investors should also pay attention to geopolitics – with the US-China relationship and the political environment in Germany and France. In a difficult environment, companies could respond with further cost reductions. Potential positive drivers include government stimulus measures in Germany, the resumption of Russian gas supplies to Europe, and the reconstruction of Ukraine. Overall, the expert prefers defensive subsectors within the industry: consumer chemicals and industrial gas suppliers./mis/bek

UBS maintains 'Neutral' rating on Lanxess - target 30 euros
ZURICH (dpa-AFX Analyst) - Swiss bank UBS has maintained its rating for Lanxess at "Neutral" with a price target of €30. One of the most discussed topics in the European chemical industry is the question of what would happen if Russian gas flowed heavily to Europe again, wrote analyst Geoff Haire in an industry report published Monday. A ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine would reduce the risk premium, lead to increased exports, and thus to significantly lower gas prices. In the chemicals sector, BASF, Covestro, Lanxess, and to a certain extent Yara would benefit the most./edh/mis
